Anthropologie
Although this geodesic installation was a breeze to build, he installation was another story. The installation of this piece took patience, physical strength and every ounce of critical thinking we had in us.
This installation was all about the process. We rusted aluminum tape in an acidic solution and then fashioned them into intricate rosettes. Once we arranged them on the wall we added in LED lights et voilà, a rust-belt-chic Christmas wall hanging.
This window display is my personal favorite because of the vibrant and rich color palette and all of the texture from the gords, twine, and yarn. All of the yarn had it's own unique texture and paired with the collection of gords in a way that made me contemplate the fecundity of life and essential productivity of women.
For this window display we die-cut plastic and paper with different metallic treatments. The die-cut pieces were stapled together into long chains and fashioned into a shimmery cloud to hang behind the mannequins.
These Spoon Chandeliers were super simple and fun to build and looked great over our kitchen display. They added that extra holiday sparkle that all retail stores have to radiate during the holiday season.
This display was a previous display that was repurposed for the holiday 2011 season. The display is made from twisting long scraps of cloth with a power drill and then tying them off. They were previously dyed with spring pastel colors, but I painted them a shimmery silver to match the palette of holiday 2011.
This floor display for Holiday 2011 is made from arranging clear plastic zip-ties together.
For the holiday season Anthropologie decorates many of its candles and bath products with decorative tie ons. This candle is an example of some of the tie-ons that I created for the holiday season.
Through the fall and winter of 2011 I worked with the visual display team at Anthropologie in Pittsburgh. I worked with the team to build window and floor displays for fall 2011 and holiday 2011. The building and installation process in a retail space was fascinating to me and I really enjoyed my time experimenting with all of materials that the brand had us working with for the seasons.
This was also my first experience getting to understand a brand's identity and how to work within it while creating something fresh and visually delightful every time. My time at Anthropologie was invaluable to me.
